FAQs

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about j.kanna design project management and how we work.  If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please be sure to let us know.

When I contact you, do I have to know exactly (in detail) what I want my end product to look like?

No.  If you have a general idea of what you want your project to accomplish and communicate, we can help you develop it appropriately.

What is your typical project process?

Once you contact j.kanna design for your project, we will meet to discuss your needs in more detail.  Once we mutually agree upon a plan, j.kanna design will manage your project from beginning to end. The first stages of the job involve research (if necessary) and developing draft designs. At each stage, you will have a chance to provide feedback and your design will become more refined and complete.  We do not proceed to the next steps unless we have your approval.  Upon your final approval, your product will be delivered straight to your door in the time promised.

How can I prepare for an initial consultation?

Bring along graphic images or collateral materials that you currently use (logos, letterhead, business cards, brochures, annual reports, etc.).  This will help us to gain an accurate understanding of your brand and business. Also be prepared to share why you need new materials, what you hope to achieve by creating them, and what you would like your brand to communicate.  If there are brands or marketing materials you like from other companies, bring those along to show us so we know your preferences.

I would like to use my own pictures in my collateral materials. What is the best way to send them to you?

We can review your photos and graphic images to determine if they can be used for your project. We accept photos in hard copy or digitally (either via email or on a flash drive).  If you send us digital pictures, they will need to be scanned or taken with a digital camera at a particular resolution, depending on the application.  We will let you know what resolution is required.

What is a PMS color?

PMS stands for Pantone Matching System.   PMS colors are each assigned a number so that printed pieces are standardized. In other words, no matter which printer or press you use, the color will be consistent.  If your logo or collateral materials have a certain PMS color(s), let us know.

What will my project cost?

Costs for all projects are determined after an initial client meeting. We make every effort to stay within your budget. Before any work begins, we prepare a proposal and a contract for you. This assures that what we do, how we do it, and our pricing is clear.

Do you print and do websites?

j.kanna design works with a team of local vendors from web designers to copywriters, printers and others as necessary to bring your project to completion.

What is a normal turnaround time to complete a project?

Turnaround times vary depending on the scope of the project. At the beginning of each project, j.kanna design will provide a timeline and make every effort to meet your deadlines. Projects can be rushed but can incur rush charges (which would be quoted up front). If possible, provide 2-4 weeks lead time for each project.
